Peter Dubovský: The Book

This series of publications has gradually introduced the life stories of three prominent, late players of Slovan Bratislava, who have left an indelible mark on the history of Slovak football. However, the project will feature all generations of players – from Štefan Priboj to Peter Dubovský. The entire project is under the expert supervision of historian Dr. Tomáš Černák, who, together with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Museum (SOV), is responsible for the publication of all books in the "Belasé legendy" (Sky Blue Legends) edition, including those on Michal Vičan, Karol Jokl, and Koloman Gögh. In the fourth publication, we remember a son of Tehelné pole, a legend who left us prematurely and tragically in 2000. A man with a capital 'M' and a footballer with a capital 'F' – that was Peter Dubovský. The book details his football beginnings at the small Bratislava club TJ Vinohrady and focuses primarily on his unforgettable tenure at Slovan Bratislava, from youth categories to the senior team. It was Slovan that served as the springboard for his unique career – Peter Dubovský became the first Slovak to transfer to the royal Real Madrid, becoming a part of the legendary "White Ballet." Readers will find a detailed description of his transfer, life, successes, and disappointments in the section dedicated to his time in Spain with Real Madrid and Real Oviedo. The publication contains over 250 photographs, many of which have never been published before. The text is complemented by memories from prominent football figures such as Jozef Vengloš, Jozef Jankech, Dušan Galis, and Ľubomír Moravčík. The author also obtained testimonials from Peter's teammates and friends from Spain, who still remember Peter as an excellent player and a great friend to this day.
